Studio JUX - MY NEPALI TAILOR IS A ROCKSTAR
My Nepali Tailor Is a Rockstar is not just a slogan but is actually a true story of one of the tailers of Jux Studio. His name is Roshan Rashaili and plays Mahdal, which is a two-headed cylinder shaped drum from Nepal. This local hero works for Studio Jux and is responsible for sewing many garments. In each garment you can find a number on the carelabel, so you can find the tailer who made it. In this way Studio Jux gives their customer transparency of where their products come from. 'Jux' is a German word for fun. And according to Studio Jux, fashion should be fun: not only for consumers, but also for the tailors.
A few weeks ago, together with Sabrina Spong 'diemetdieafro', I had the opportunity to see new F/W13 collection. We were not only impressed by their designs, but also sustainable production process each garment takes. Sustainability is their first priority. The fabrics that they use are organic cotton, hemp and recycled coke bottles. With all this green development, I am very proud to say 'I am wearing Studio Jux'

Shadowlime @ Show Nikkie
Nikkie Plessen did it - She created her own fashion label NIKKIE.
The show took place at The Harbourclub in Amsterdam, were she showed her FW13/14 collection. Everything was very well organized, from drinks to the vogue goody bag - her first show was very professionally organized.
Although the media is falling over the authenticity of the collection, we think she did a good job. The collection was divided into 4 categories: Outerwear, Office, Casual and Party. They also put some models on ice-skates to show their looks skating over the runway, which was a very funny element. We thought that the Outerwear collection was most strong. The colors, rich fabrics and design were all very 'desirable'. The party collection was not really our cup of tea, as selection of fabrics looked a bit cheap. But overall the everything looked very nice and we very much enjoyed the show!
We definitely think you should keep on eye on this new label, because the clothes are very wearable and affordable! We give Nikkie a warm welcome into the fashion industry :)!
